On May 31, Father Kilian, staff, and our parish Mental Health Ministry volunteers met at the Offices of the Diocese of Phoenix. Bishop Dolan presided over a lovely Mass and concluded with a special presentation naming Blessed Sacrament as a parish with "The Well." This designation refers to John (4:5-42) where Jesus encounters the Samaritan Woman at the Well.
Bishop Dolan presented Father Kilian with a framed painting, Woman of the Well by Glenda Stevens, now on display in our Parish Office. The Diocese of Phoenix Office of Mental Health Ministry was established close to two years ago. Bishop John has selected about 20 parishes so far tasking them with establishing "The Well" on their campus. This is a safe space, a place of encounter for all who are experiencing challenges to gather, share, or rest with the goal of strengthening their relationship with God.
This is an exciting recognition of our parish. It follows our successful April 6 Whole Hearted Facilitator Training event where we hosted 31 other parishes/organizations in collaboration with the Diocese of Phoenix Office of Mental Health Ministry and Catholic Charities. We thank God for His love and guidance with every step we take in this important ministry.
