The Solemnity of The Epiphany of the Lord

by Rev. Kilian McCaffrey  |  01/05/2025  |  Pastor's Letter

“And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way” (Gospel of St. Matthew 2:12).

Good Stewardship is an Act of Worship:
How do we announce the birth of a child today? “Send pictures! Send photos!” is the first thing we say when a baby is born and we send and receive photos or videos to each other on our cell phones and tablets. Usually the first pictures are taken shortly after the birth, still in the hospital. Then, after a while, there’s the more formal portrait photos with parents and siblings and grandparents. Yet we want to see the first photo above all.

But God had another way, a different way, a better way to be seen all who were watching the night sky all over the world, in the night sky, an amazing sight in the winter sky.

The Heavens Proclaim the Glory of God Day Unto Day Pours Forth Speech; Night Unto Night Whispers Knowledge as we read in Psalm 19, verses 2 and 3.

Yes, We Live By Another Way: “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him” (Matthew 2:11)

The attitude and posture of the Magi’s most generous worship shows us that stewardship is ultimately about honoring and adoring God with the resources we have been given.

We live by the Way of Faith. It is the Way to Heaven. It is the Way of God. and it is a Way contrary to many things of the world. It makes all the difference.

Our Lord Jesus is “the Way the Truth and the Life” we read in John, Chapter 14. So as we begin this New Year in Jesus’ Name, 2025 years after His birth, we make the bold decision to follow Him closely always. We have to pray, we have to study, we have to watch for the signs of the times and make the right decisions, to keep on the path, God will give us the signs, we must take His advice. We have to be Wise Man and Women and follow.

We sincerely wish you all a great Epiphany and Holy Year in 2025. Make a Gift to Your Parish This Christmas: Many have already made many preparations and we look forward to focusing on the our upgrading of the structures of our parish with your continued financial benevolence. Share in the wonder of the Magi, and we need to join them in worshiping and serving the Lord.
