Be A Saint!

Palm Sunday leads us further toward the joy of the Easter Resurrection and the hope of our own saintly transformation. Many recent Sunday Lenten Gospels have been miraculous. A miracle is an event only explained by the direct intervention of God, and it normally suspends the laws of nature. Miracles point to the kingdom of God and Heaven, our eternal home, as saints, God willing. The miraculous Transfiguration points to the divinity of Christ and our spiritual transformation. The Samaritan woman at the well discovers the miracle of living water that only Christ can give. The man born blind receives the miracles of sight and faith from our Lord.

Praise the Lord that instead of a midterm exam, there is just an easy pop quiz for everyone. Here’s an important question as we journey from Lent toward Easter.

What is your goal in life? How many honestly answered, “to be a saint”?

Okay, what if I added that saints are those in Heaven with God? Whose goal in life is to be a saint?

Better, but what if I added that there are only two choices? Remember, our eternal soul exists with no end, a changeless ever present, a really long time, and for-ev-er…

  1. The narrow path to Heaven leads to eternal joy in the miraculous Beatific Vision of God, seeing Him face to face. It has a walk-up theme song of “Amazing Grace.”
  2. The wide path to Hell leads to eternal suffering because of our choice of separation from God. It has a walk-up theme song of “I Did It My Way,” instead of God’s way. Sorry, Frank Sinatra.

Now, whose goal in life is to be a saint? Great!

Yes, we are in the time of saints because, in tough times, great saints rise up. So, there’s hope for all of us. Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future. The only real tragedy in life is not becoming a saint. Right now, saints are being made. Praise the Lord. Though the path is narrow and the daily crosses heavy, be a Saint!
